Final Results, Whakatu, Europe NZ Champs, FD SI Champs

Nelson turned on the full range of sailing conditions to test sailors in the 3 Day Europe NZ Champs and FD SI Champs and the 2 Day Whakatu Regatta. Europe and FD sailors completed 3 races on Friday in light N/NW winds. On Saturday a decent sea breeze built to 20 knots before dropping back in the last of 3 races for all fleets. Sunday started with a light sea breeze and a left over swell and the first race was over before a strong W SW wind arrived with force and made conditions in a confused sea challenging for all in Race 2, particularly downwind.  Racing was abandoned for the day and NYCs new safety boat was put to good use along with existing trusted safety boats, committee boat and crews to assist many sailors back through The Cut in challenging wind against an outgoing tide conditions. Congratulations to all the competitors, sailors and race management and safety crews and the Penguins Nest team for a great regatta.
