A Northerly gale delayed Saturday’s racing and we only managed to get in one race inside the harbour in some very challenging conditions. For many it became survival conditions, with a “he/she who capsizes least wins”.
Sunday saw a shifty Westerly / South-Westerly wind causing havoc for the course setters, but they managed to run 4 races out in Tasman Bay – where the water seemed to be pretty shallow as Commodore Geoff Pitcaithly and John Booth found out when they capsized their Flying Dutchman and unfortunately snapped their mast 🙁
We apologise for the delay in getting results posted and the late prizegiving. There were some communication breakdowns and there was a protest in the Optimist fleet which delayed things somewhat. Bruce and Ian had worked hard on a spreadsheet to try and accurately compare the results of all boats across all fleets to find an overall “Regional Champion”, of which Nick Gardiner was the deserving winner.
