What a great afternoon we had on Saturday 8th March. The Green Fleet held a regatta with some cool prizes up for grabs… It was a chance to encourage some of the kids who’ve been progressing through the Junior Watersports Programme to get involved with the Green Fleet and try their hand at racing!
Light wind and a strong incoming tide saw pretty much everyone over the line on the first start, so they all found out about a general recall straight away… After that, most people were sailing full speed downwind until the gun just to try and keep the right side of the line. It was pretty crowded out there too as you can see from the photos. We had some 30 kids (and even a few adults sneaked through the net) sailing anything from the club’s plastic Optimists, to their own wooden boats, to fibreglass Optimists. There were also the club’s Topaz Unos in the mix.
