A small contingent of Nelson Yacht Club’s Optimist sailors headed south to Charteris Bay Yacht Club on the 8th & 9th February for the annual South Island Age Group Regatta. They came back with some impressive results! Congratulations to everyone, especially those sailing in their first regatta, and Ben Mangin and Ollie Grant for coming 1st in their age-groups!
- Ben Mangin: 1st place in the Optimist Green Fleet (11 and over).
- Ollie Grant: 1st place in the Optimist Green Fleet (10 and under).
- Jonny Lewis: 4th place in the Optimist Green Fleet (11 and over).
- Dylan Grant: 6th place in the Optimist Green Fleet (10 and under).
- Hannah Mangin: 8th place in the Optimist Open Fleet (13 and over).

SIAG is a fantastic ‘first timers’ regatta. Not tooo far to travel, categories for all sailors and extremely welcoming for newbies! With all the sailors coming through the Junior Watersports Programme, it would be great to get an even bigger crew together to head down to next year’s regatta!
