The Optimist fleets at the Nelson Marlborough Regional Championships in Picton over the weekend proved a happy hunting ground for Nelson Yacht Club and the Mangin family in particular!
In the Open Fleet, Hannah Mangin showed some excellent form, moving up from 4th position after the first day, to take 2nd place overall! She sailed extremely well, really applying herself to achieve good starts and out-thinking her opponents (including NYC’s Max Meffan – 4th) regularly. Well done Hannah, great result!!
With the less experienced Green Fleet racing out in the sound, the conditions were more challenging than usual. Ben Mangin made the most of his experience of sailing both inside and outside the harbour at Nelson Yacht Club to win 6 races and come 2nd in the other two to dominate the regatta and take 1st place. Congratulations Ben!!!
