NYC Sailor Dave Shaw dominates the PT Interdominion Champs again!

Nelson Yacht Club’s Dave Shaw dominated the fleet at the Swire Shipping Paper Tiger International Regatta at Muritai Yacht Club over Easter. Wellington provided it’s usual dose of wind over the weekend resulting in many broken boats!

The first day was blown out with 25-35knots… Day two saw 4 races in 12-18knts, and Dave having a perfect day with a bullet in each race! Day three was blown out again and they managed to squeeze in two races into the squally fourth day. The first race was in 20-25knots and Dave “played it safe” to finish in 2nd place and seal the win. In the second race of the day a huge gust capsized 20 or so boats near the gybe mark, Dave included. He came in 9th but was happy to discard the race and finish the series on 6 points.

Dave’s low scoring helped the Kiwis to a second consecutive win over the Kangaroos by 399 points to 551.
