The adult Level 1 sailing course were the first group to get their hands on Nelson Yacht Club’s new Topper Topaz Unos on Thursday evening…. and they loved them! Instructor Martin Langelaan felt the guys and girls were ready for their first solo sailing challenge and the group took to the water in three Topaz Uno and one double-handed Topaz Vibe. Everyone got a chance to sail single handed, and enjoyed the simplicity and ease of use of the Unos.
The session started under grey skies and with a pretty gusty NE wind, but finished up in glorious evening sunshine. 
The group has spent a few sessions in larger boats to build their confidence, but sailing single handed allows much more time to practise tacking and gybing and helps people learn and develop their skills more quickly.
