Saturday saw a South-West change come through just as the first sailors were heading out of The Cut. It rapidly built to over 20knts, and by the time that the first classes were finishing their first race it was gusting over 30knots! Race Officer Alisdair Daines decided to call it a day and everyone made it back to the Club safely to dry off, warm up, and tuck into a great bbq!

The Green Fleet optimists managed to sail two races inside the harbour, but even here there were some ferocious gusts!

Sunday was much more pleasant with a sea breeze developing and the main fleets getting in an expanded programme of 4 races out in Tasman Bay. It was a long day on the water, so thanks to all the sailors for bearing with us and making the most of the conditions to get a complete series.

Sailors ashore at Nelson Yacht ClubThe Green Fleet had some more close racing with some kids winning their first ever races! Well done to Ben Roff of Nelson Yacht Club sailing his first regatta aged 7!!
